Happy Holidays!
Hi everyone. We will be undertaking a marathon trip starting on Saturday, so I probably will not be able to post for awhile. Here is Jillian in some of her Christmas attire, provided by her Grandma, of course.
Today we went to a mom's group, which was an interesting experience. It was good to get out and meet other moms and babies, but when it came time to sing I balked - despite being given a song sheet to help me along. I felt stupid, but I saw how much the babies enjoyed it and I gave in. After all, the wheels on the bus actually do go round and round and the itsy bitsy spider could have feasibly crawled up the water spout - although I think he would have given up after a few tries instead of going at it again after the sun dried up all the rain. I guess I doubt the spider's fortitude.

Update: I Still Miss My Mom (and Dad Too)
So, I have been a mom for over eight weeks now and in some ways I feel like a little kid because I miss my own mom. I guess it was having the help, having someone around who unabashedly loves Jillian, and someone to lean on in the rough times. I get pretty lonely.
For the record, I miss my dad as well. He is a totally baby hog; the first to jump up to hold her when she is crying or I need a break. Apparently, he is very experienced in the care of crying babies - rumor has it I wasn't the most calm child.
I really like seeing my parents with Jillian, which probably adds to the whole missing them thing. Not to be sappy, but it is a special love that grandparents have for a new baby.
Anyway, I debated putting a picture of my parents and Jillian up, as I have avoided pictures of people other than myself and those with no say in the matter (i.e. Jillian), but figured it would be ok. So here are the proud grandparents.
And, I should note that it is 11:30 p.m. and Jillian has been asleep for about 2.5 hours. In a cruel twist of fate, I cannot fall asleep, even though I know I have to be up at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. Perhaps the universe is playing a trick on me, although I would think that the universe would have run out of tricks at this point.
Maybe there is a re-run of this week's Real World: Denver on. The sheer stupidity of the show should put me to sleep or at least numb my brain.

11 lbs 5 oz of Snuggling Fury
For those of you who are keeping score, Big J had a doctor's appointment today and weighed in at 11 lbs 5 oz
In fun news, late last week she received a gift of a pink armchair with her name on it. It is hilarious - like a baby throne. I have included a picture as evidence. You will notice that her legs look weird in the picture and not just because she has on huge purple pants. This odd look comes from her highly fashionable hip brace, which is under the awesome pants. She has a minor case of hip dysplasia, something that I had in a more severe form when I was born. So she is inheriting all my great qualities - funky hips and stick-out ears.
